Newleaf is inspired by my beloved houseplants. This easy sweater pattern includes options for short or long sleeves. Fingering or sport weight yarn makes this garment light weight and versatile. This piece is knit top down, seamlessly and in the round starting with a simple rolled neckline. With its easy to follow colorwork chart, this pattern is suitable for beginners and experienced knitters alike. While my sample hits at upper hip, you can easily add or subtract length if desired. Just try on as you go and choose the length that’s best for you.

MC: Barrett Wool Co Wiscosin Woolen Spun Fingering weight, 100% wool. 450 yds / 411 meters per 100g. Colorway: Oats 2 (2, 3, 3, 3)(3, 3, 3, 3) skeins for short sleeved version or 3 (3, 4, 4, 4)(4, 5, 5, 5) skeins for long sleeved version.

CC: Spincycle Dyed in the Wool 100% superwash American Wool, sport weight 200 yds / 183 meters per 50g

NEEDLES

Note: Swatch to determine what needle sizes you need to use. Needle sizes are only a suggestion.

Needle A: US 3 / 3.25 mm DPNs or 16” (40 cm) circular (neckline), matching set DPNs (for cuff), and 24” (60 cm) or longer circular for waistband.

Needle B: US 5 / 3.75 mm DPNs and 32” (80 cm) or longer circular needle for body and magic looping sleeves.

Needle C: US 6 / 4 mm DPNs or long circular - 32” (80 cm) or longer circular needle for stranded colorwork yoke and colorwork section of sleeves.

GAUGE

Colorwork: 22 sts and 30 rnds = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette st, in the round, on larger needles, after blocking.
